Mechanical Engineeering Intern
Philips North America - Fall 2017

In fall of 2017, I worked at Philips North America, in the Connected Sensing Venture. Philips aims to improve patient outcomes with continuous health monitoring. My position was working as a mechanical engineer on the team, doing design work as well as mechanical testing, working on a wireless device that monitors heart and respiration rate.

One of my assingments was updating a fixture we intended to use for programming PCBAs, eliminating the need for us to go through an outside contractor. I designed the fixture in Solidworks, ensuring that the assembly is easily modifiable for future changes in our design.
For product design, I interfaced with the Industrial Design team to ensure that our device met the visual requirements that they set out, kept a small profile, and still had room for the electronics necessary for its use.
On the testing side, I designed test processes for the materials used in the device. I made sure that the processes we used met the requirements for FDA standards and our Mechanical Internal Specifications, including data analysis and sample size analysis.
